There is a wealth of activities on offer in the area. Self-guided walks in and around the stunning Northumberland National Park or taking your bike along the Hadrian Cycleway.
If you have a head for heights why not 'Go Ape' at Matfen Hall?
Family fun can be had at Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham with its swimming pool and recently opened ten pin bowling alley.
We are at the heart of a hunting, shooting, fishing community and you try any or all three... even if you prefer shooting at clay pigeons rather than real ones!!
If you have a GPS with you then why not have a go at Geo-caching. There are some interesting treasure troves to be found in and around the local landscape.
And if you are visiting between April and September then take the opportunity for an alfresco bathing experience in Haltwhistle's heated open air swimming pool.
