Holmhead Cottage is part of the 19thC farmhouse that includes the guest house and sits in a beautifully quiet location next to the Tipalt Burn and beneath the ruins of Thirlwall Castle. Built in 1800 with Hadrian’s Wall stone, the house is bordered by open fields and has stunning views of the North Pennines, Northumberland National Park and Thirlwall Castle. Holmhead is built over the foundations of Hadrian’s Wall and is directly on the Pennine Way and Hadrian’s Wall National Trails and only 300m from the Hadrians Wall C2C cycle route. The recently-refurbished cottage has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, a spacious bathroom with bath and over-bath shower, fully fitted kitchen and lounge area with TV, DVD and Freesat. The cottage has its own private garden with views of the Castle. The kitchen has a hob, oven, grill, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher, but for those who prefer to eat out, there’s a local pub which is a pleasant half-mile stroll away and serves great food and real ales.
