This is the most recent of the heritage railways in the area and only opened in 2012.
The Aln Valley Railway project is an ambitious plan to reopen the branch line from Alnmouth to Alnwick, the old county town of Northumberland and the ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland.
A new railway station and visitor centre is being constructed adjacent to the A1 trunk road next to the Lionheart Enterprise Park on the outskirts of Alnwick from where the railway will follow the original trackbed all the way to Alnmouth Station, which is still on the national rail network.
The railway is open to the public on most weekends during the summer months but check the website for other opening dates between May and September including Bank Holidays and Special Events.
