The Red Lion

An old coaching inn dating back to the 1190’s that has been brought into the 21st Century with all the charm of a countryside bed and breakfast. A spacious bar area to drink and unwind, with its original wood and stone work, open fires, comfortable chairs, local real ales and wine from around the world. Our restaurant serves delicious locally sourced ‘pub food with a twist’. We have five cosy en-suite rooms, a perfect retreat after a hard day spent walking the Wall or fishing on the Tyne. Free Wi-Fi available and our Stanegate Room which is situated in part of the pub has recently opened to celebrate all things local.
